'It is what it is' - a saying I'm very fond of.
What does it mean? I imagine it means different things to different people. For me, it's just a way to accept "it" for what "it" is. For most things, I think you should put up or shut up. Don't bitch about it if you're not going to do something about it. Unless you're just venting, then that's OK. IMO venting is just a way to acknowledge your feelings to something before moving on. Totally different. :) (I say that because I am also known for venting...)
Anyway, so if it's not worth putting up and you want to shut up, just accept it. 'It is what it is.' It really works wonders, you should try it. :) It's especially effective with people. There's no way in hell you're going to change your boss and his chauvinistic opinions. Deep down you know that. It is what it is.
The cable guy is late and you *still* can't watch your favorite soap opera. Yes it sucks. Is your life so severely affected by it that you can't function? No? It is what it is.
Now I'm not saying just accept every situation - that's ridiculous and if you knew me you'd know I don't do that (right Paula? lol) One of the most important lessons in life is to pick your battles. Sometimes it's worth fighting, sometimes not. When it's not, that's right kiddies! Say it along with me - It is what it is.
That's my lesson for the day.
Go now and rule the world. Then pay me for the lesson. That's called passive income and is a lesson for another day. :)
